Guidelines for inclusion of content
Showcases exceptional students, faculty or staff
Positions the University as a leader in research, scholarship, and academics
Showcases the exceptional academic departments in the system
Highlights opportunities for students, including activities, UROP, events, and internships
Be of high technical quality, with clear audio and steady, easily understood video
Responsible party has the relevant signed release form(s)
Formats
- Audio files (MP3) with appropriate file extensions (.m4a, .mp3). See the iTunes guide for more specific information.
- Video files (MPEG-4 with H.264 compression recommended) with appropriate file extensions (.mp4, .m4v, .mov).
Required Information
- Album title: Title of the series, or if not part of a series, the name of the event or presentation.
- Album artwork: Provide a 300px X 300px image. The image will show in iTunes U on
various pages at 300 x 300 at the largest to possibly 65 x 65 pixels at
the smallest. If you have text on the image, it should be readable at
the smallest dimensions. Provide a high-quality jpg, tif or eps. We
will add the Block M will be overlaid on the image in the lower left
corner.
- Album artist: If a series,
the name of the college, department, or person convening the series. If
it is one file, then the name of the artist/presenter.
- Album description: Clear, descriptive text that clearly communicates the content to users
- Category : Apple uses a limited list of categories. Choose your category from the list on the Apple site.
- Track name: Describe the topic or speaker on that track.
Suggested Information
- Track comments: maximum of 255 characters, including spaces and punctuation
- Relevant links: will be linked from an album, subject to approval
- Genre: defaults to "University of Minnesota"
- Grouping: Use this if you will publish multiple types of content in the channel, for instance, if you will publish both audio and video files, or an event series from 2007 and 2008
- Track artist: Use this if the Track artist if different than album artist, like a speaker at a event
- Disc number: You could use this field to note a time period (2007-2008)
- Track number: Use if users may want to sort your files
- Lyrics: Add a transcript to the lyrics section for hearing impaired users.
