Information for instructors on using iTunes U and WebVista.

What is WebVista?

WebVista is a course management software that enables instructors to create and manage Web-based learning materials and activities. Students use WebVista to access these materials and participate in learning activities via the Web. For more information on WebVista, please see the WebVista Support site.

Instructors using WebVista for their courses can use iTunes U (for credit courses only) to create course podcasts for audio and video content.

Steps to take (credit courses only):

WebVista and iTunes U resources for credit courses are both listed in the My Courses/My Courses & Teaching tab in myU. The instructions listed below will provide a direct link to your iTUnes U course podcast from WebVista.

Add a link to the iTunes U course podcast in your WebVista site

  1. Access the iTunes U private site and sign in with your U of MN Internet ID and pasword
  2. Right-click on the icon in My Courses for your course podcast
    • To add links to a group tab (i.e. Audio, Video) in a course podcast, click on your course podcast and then right-click on the appropriate group tab.
  3. Select Copy iTunes Store URL in the dialog box that appears.
  4. Add the link in your WebVista site.

Using iTunes U for Campus, College, or Departmental Podcasts.

Many campuses, colleges, and departments have access to create podcasts in iTunes U for their areas. To request a podcast that is for a campus, college, or department, please contact the iTunes U administrator in your area. If you don't know who the contact person is in your area, consult with iTunes U Support by completing the Support Request Form.
