iTunes U and Moodle

Information for instructors on using iTunes U and Moodle.

What is Moodle?

Moodle is a course management system which can be used for online class delivery, group forums, internal training, sharing of resources, etc. For more information on Moodle, please see the Moodle Support site.

Instructors using Moodle for their courses can use iTunes U to create course podcasts for audio and video content.

Steps to take (credit and non-credit courses):

Moodle and iTunes U resources for credit courses are both listed in the My Courses/My Courses & Teaching tab in myU. The instructions listed below will provide a direct link to your iTUnes U course podcast from Moodle.

Add a link to the iTunes U course podcast in your Moodle site

  1. Access the iTunes U private site and sign in with your U of MN Internet ID and pasword
  2. Right-click on the icon in My Courses for your course podcast
    • To add links to a group tab (i.e. Audio, Video) in a course podcast, click on your course podcast and then right-click on the appropriate group tab.
  3. Select Copy iTunes Store URL in the dialog box that appears.
  4. Add the link in your Moodle site.

Using iTunes U for Campus, College, or Departmental Podcasts.

Many campuses, colleges, and departments have access to create podcasts in iTunes U for their areas. To request a podcast that is for a campus, college, or department, please contact the iTunes U administrator in your area. If you don't know who the contact person is in your area, consult with iTunes U Support by completing the Support Request Form.
